Greenpeace Contest Posters
Medium: Flour on Paper/Black Ink/Black Liner on Paper, Collage.
As the Arctic sea ice retreats, destructive industrial fishing fleets are moving further north than ever before to exploit previously untouched waters, putting a pristine ecosystem at risk. This threatens amazing Arctic creatures, from blue whales to polar bears, from corals to tiny creatures like the mystical sea butterfly. Yet the largely unexplored and vulnerable northern part of the Barents Sea ecosystem is at the mercy of destructive fishing practices, due to the current lack of actions. Fishing brings with it the threats of habitat degradation and bycatch, potentially wiping out marine life and putting this whole fragile ecosystem at risk. Greenpeace calls to bring pressure on the Norwegian government and the fishing companies involved to leave these pristine waters alone.
